Five Tips Successful Team Leaders Use To Build Wildly Successful Businesses
Most small businesses are mediocre at best. There are two reasons why. For one, many small business owners have not studied and integrated practical leadership principles that set outstanding leaders apart from self-serving leaders. And, they have not searched for and reflected upon those outstanding principles within themselves.
The second reason — and probably the biggest mistake small business owners make today — is failing to pay attention to the culture they want to create and the values that set their business apart from the competition. With the widening employment gap created as skilled baby boomers begin to retire, larger companies with attractive benefit plans are searching for your disgruntled employees. A recent study conducted by the U.S. Small Business Administration concluded that dissatisfaction with culture and attitudes is one of the biggest reasons employees search for greener pastures.
This said, here is a successful team leader’s check list for building a wildly successful business.
1. Determine what your culture is and identify values that reinforce your culture.
2. Know where you are in the business opportunity wave and capitalize on that.
3. Be able to identify some secret sauce that gives you the edge over everyone else and gives you a unique status in the market place.
4. Be able to explain your business to someone else in a brief and easily understood way and avoid all trade jargon.
5. Understand what collaborative values are so that you can anchor them into your workplace.
Apply these principles and your business is guaranteed to grow. With a solid culture supported by values that are demonstrated daily in how your employees treat one another and your customers, your company will stay on track.
Belonging to your company will be as important to your employees as the excellent work they do.
