You see an opportunity in yourself or in someone else, and you want to make a difference. Now, if you’re the one that’s hoping to change, well then, for the most part, you’re in control. Alternatively, if you’re simply involved in someone else’s process, your role is dependent on 5 things.

Their purpose for changing, and the priority they put on the process.

Their interest in using you as a resource, and their level of respect for you.

Their willingness to do the hard work that’s inevitable & essential.

Your ability to influence.

Your patience for the process and the other person.

It’s critical to consider these 5 factors because if you’re helping someone else, you must recognize that it’s not all about the other person (putting too much pressure on him/her) and it’s not all about you (taking too much pride in yourself). At the same time, you must willingly accept the fact that some people do not want your help. It’s not your job to convince them to change.

If someone invites you into his/her process toward change, you inherently inherit responsibility. Be accountable to it, without abusing it. In order to do this well, try utilizing the ABCDE framework to lay the right coach-client foundation.

ASK QUESTIONS. If someone approaches you and asks you to be her coach – don’t just accept the offer. Ask questions to better understand her purpose, goal and vision for contacting you. All too often, we take things at face value, and down the road, we realize we weren’t the right solution.

BELIEVE. I think it’s absolutely fundamental to only accept coaching clients that we believe have potential. Now, I’m not suggesting that only high performers deserve your time! No, instead I’m saying that if you don’t believe in the client, you are doing him a huge disservice by accepting his offer. We all know that little feels worse than being surrounded by someone who doesn’t see and believe in our potential! Don’t bog down the client with your disbelief.

CONTRACT. Once you decide you want to help the client work toward change, document this mutual decision. A contract doesn’t need to be exhaustive to be valuable; it simply needs to put the relationship in writing, so that you both remain accountable to the process. Decide between the two of you what this should look like.

DIALOGUE. A dialogue is not a one-way conversation, it’s a two-part process where new content is created. Set aside time where the two of you can connect and collaborate over conversation. Bonding before the official coaching process begins is fundamental to building a relationship. Good relationships harvest good rewards.

EXPECTATIONS. As their coach, it’s your job to extract their expectations because most people aren’t experts at explicitly stating what they hope to do, receive and become. If you don’t understand their expectations from the start, you will have a hard time delivering valuable coaching strategies.

ABCDE is a good way to begin the coaching process.

Sadly, many businesses have had to lay off some staff members in order to keep costs down and are hesitant to hire new ones. Many positions are being combined so that one staff member is doing a large number of job functions in order to avoid paying two workers. There is one absolutely vital area of your business that you simply cannot afford to make any cuts in. This area is risk management. Risk management jobs are a truly essential part of your company’s day to day operations and this department will keep your business functioning at the highest level by carefully controlling the risks that are inherent in business.

A risk manager and risk management team perform a large number of important functions in an organization. A risk manager will determine where possible threats are within the structure of the company and will decide how these should be dealt with. They will also prioritize all of these functions within the company. Risk management jobs in a business help the company to run smoother and more effectively while side-stepping any kinds of unnecessary setbacks. Many risks can come up in the everyday operations of a company. Some recurring risks that can be monitored and controlled, or possibly even removed, include uncertainty in the financial markets, possible infringements on the law, failures of projects in any stage, common accidents, and blatant attacks by competitors in the same industry. The people that are responsibly for skillfully dealing with managing risks must always oversee and make sure that all of these various areas are in control and that there is a comprehensive and strategic plan in place if any of these threats become a detriment to the company. These team members are quite possibly some of the most important staffers on your team because they will be working every day to continue the safe running of your company and will help to steer clear of any unnecessary problems that might arise when disasters happen. Many disasters started off as a tiny situation and by properly controlling and eliminating the challenge your business will run easier. That is why Executive Search Firms is very important in a business.

In order to find people to perform risk management jobs in your business, you should look for individuals who have the correct personality traits to help them become successful in the role. These should be people who can keep a level head no matter how stressful a situation, as well as someone who is trained in actuarial science and is comfortable with difficult mathematical and statistical analysis. They should be skilled in communications and should have leadership abilities. Their other strengths should lie in dealing with specific data as opposed to ideas and in keeping their tasks organized.

Because of the sheer volume of different software licensing schemes, it is important to have realistic expectations of the effectiveness of any given license management tool. Sometimes companies have an over-inflated perception of a license management tool’s capabilities. Equally important is the need to have an understanding of what skill levels and knowledge of software licensing are necessary to reap maximum benefits from the chosen license management tool.

The two main considerations are:

Understanding the time and effort needed at the beginning to populate or import legacy licensing data and keeping this information up to date by adding any subsequent licenses

The level of software licensing expertise required to utilize the license management tool effectively

When choosing the right license management tool, there are a number of important factors to consider:

Mapping lines of entitlement – importing data is a straight forward enough exercise for any license management tool, but will it automatically map entitlement lines to dictionary descriptions? If not, how much software licensing expertise will be needed in order to carry out this task manually?

Because many entitlements are acquired with maintenance and as entitlement to install is based upon the expiry date, will the license management tool map licenses with maintenance to a product version or will you have to do this based upon the expiry date of the maintenance?

Will the license management tool map licenses with maintenance to a product version or would you have to do this based upon the expiry date of the maintenance?

When a new version is released, will the license management tool automatically update licenses with active maintenance?

Will I have to manually map upgrades and understand maintenance renewals for every entitlement entry or will the license management tool do this automatically? If this is the case, then how much time and what level of capability will be required to complete this task?

Because it is critical that the measurement metric is captured so as to ensure that the license management tool demands the right usage detail to prevent occasions such as expensive per processor licenses being allocated against a device instance, you need to ensure that the license management tool will determine the required metric of install.

When assigning base licenses to maintenance, ask whether the license management tool will enforce this or whether you will have that responsibility?

This list is not exhaustive and areas like downgrade rights and grandfathering entitlements from one version to another need to be looked at too.

Obviously one of the main considerations when choosing any license management tool is cost. Equally though you must give serious thought to whether your company has the skills to use the product effectively. Different tools have different capabilities and you need to choose the one that best meets your organization’s needs as oppose to one that seems to have everything anyone could ever need – some of which would be either inappropriate or beyond your skill level to use effectively.

It is well known that payroll software can reduce the stress of meeting payday deadlines and can improve the general internal payment process. This result in staff having more time to work on other projects and the company can benefit from lower overhead costs. As an added benefit, payroll software puts more detailed payroll reports in the hands of management who can then use this data to make more informed business decisions.

Accurate

It is human nature to make mistakes and the more staff you have increases the chances of making a payroll related mistake. Moving onto payroll software drastically reduces the chances of an error being made since a payroll system will carry out all the calculations. Electronic time-keeping system can help to eliminate entry errors on the payroll side as they work in conjunction with other software that the business may have. Unlike a manual payroll, payroll software can also help you to identify potential mistakes that could prove costly to the company hence allowing the company to avoid any unnecessary expenses.

Detailed Reports

Payroll systems have the ability to retrieve information instantly in a matter of seconds and transform it into a useful report. These reports can be used to see how expenses change throughout the various seasons, determine whether a department has any excess resources and it can even use reports to identify any fraudulent activity. Creating reports via a payroll system is also faster since you no longer nee to wait for someone to manually create a report which allows the analysis and decision making process to start much quicker.

Timley

As your business grows, manually paying staff can become increasingly time-consuming and payroll software can drastically reduce the amount of time needed to pay staff. Instead of paying for an office full of staff to run your payroll process, you would only need to pay one or two people since the only thing that a payroll system needs from you is to be monitored and to have payroll data inserted into it. The staff that would been maintaining your payroll can then be put to better use within other departments. The entire process is just much more streamlined since the manager would now only need to deal with the occasional problems that arise rather than having to deal with hundreds if not thousands of checks.

Assistance with W-2 forms

A W-2 form states how much an employee was paid in the year that has just passed and it can take weeks to prepare this form using a manual payroll system.

A good business requires a strong foundation that enables their staff to provide consistent customer service and support in an organized and timely fashion. Building this structure can be a complex and expensive process and, if it is not done correctly, it can disrupt essential business functions as well as hamstring effective business operations. To prevent these sorts of disruptions, an effective IT solution will do three things: Design and assess the current business needs and any existing computer and network equipment, provide an accurate and economical implementation plan, and determine a cost-effective and proactive support model for after the implementation is finished.

Business process, in a modern office, is usually built on systems and software tools that track customer data, streamline tedious or complicated processes, and ensure service delivery accuracy. Mapping business critical deliverables to the underlying technology that makes them possible is an important step in providing an effective computer and network solution. By combining a technology inventory with existing and future business needs an organization can identify their strengths and weaknesses, improve their customer experience, and help employees be more productive. A successful evaluation will usually leave a business with documentation that outlines their current technology situation, provides them with an planning document for future purchases, and gives budgetary and strategic insight into future technology purchases.

Once the inventory and evaluation phase is complete, it is important to craft an accurate implementation plan. A superior implementation usually builds off of the assessment and planning phases. This means following a well-crafted process that, when designed properly, will minimize business disruptions and ensure adherence to the well-defined budget. A structured approach results in fewer surprises for management and easier transitions for staff members.

The final, but often overlooked, aspect of a successful IT solution is maintenance. Modern computer networks and software solutions require maintenance and supervision in order to operate at maximum effectiveness and to prevent costly disruptions to ongoing day-to-day business operations. Planning for software updates, hardware refresh, and data backup can make a huge difference in a companies IT experience. It is essential these items be planned early and performed to plan on a frequent and regular schedule for optimal performance and reliability.

Most modern businesses require some form of Information Technology in order to provide their customers with a consistently excellent level of support and service. Creating the right IT solutions are never an easy task; however, going through a structured process and focusing on design and assessment, implementation, and support in a sequential and well-ordered method will ensure the IT you put in place is exactly what you need.

The benefits of outsourcing your ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system are quite extensive: scalability, cost-effectiveness, disaster-proofing and reliability are the top four ranking reasons for outsourcing. Let’s explore these four facets in more detail:

Scalability: It is common that companies frequently change in size and scale perhaps opening extra satellite offices or consolidating warehousing facilities. The outsourcing of ERP systems quickly adapts to this change without causing a delay in the day-to-day workings of the business or causing communication problems for operations in transit. Regardless of where the central personnel are located, the ERP system can guarantee the fully operational function of the company allowing for much more freedom of movement within.

Cost-Effectiveness: Not only does an outsourced ERP system save money on the cost of the actual software but also any associated personnel costs that go along with it. Dedicated in-house teams quickly become quite an investment for the business to supervise and maintain the ERP system. An outsourced system means that the managing company only spends the necessary money it needs to in order to maintain the effectiveness of the system and eliminate all wasteful expenditures. The professionally designed ERP system is far more fluid and accurate than a system that is set up by amateurs. The primary function of an ERP system is to provide a source for real-time communication across multiple platforms. If the communication is hampered by poor setup and poorly designed system tools then the systems advantageous function is lost. Many incur more loss than gain in this situation.

Disaster-Proofing: No company really plans for disaster but accidents can and do occur therefore having a system that is run independently is a vital component for securing all information and important data. If a disaster does occur, a company that has opted to have an outsourced ERP system will be much better equipped to begin operating at a much faster pace than otherwise. The outsourced ERP system is also backed-up at regular intervals creating an archive for the company to reference when needed. Being able to access past information without slowing down the current system enables the company to make much better use of their time and resources.

Reliability: Although many in-house ERP systems can be custom designed to the company’s specific requirements, it is usually the case that the people who put the system together do not have the technical knowledge or understanding to design these systems properly. Whilst their input is valuable, they do not possess the same level of skill that a dedicated, technical company does in creating streamlined and efficient ERP software. The outsourcing of this process guarantees that you have a fully trained technical team that can solve problems and create solutions for any problems with your ERP system immediately.
